Default Unemployment Question Massachusetts

Hi, I was wondering if you could collect unemployment if you were to voluntarily quit your job?

I'm in a situation here at work where I'm compleltley uncomfortable coming to work every day and although it doesnt' classify "legally" as a hostel enviornment, I feel like I'm working in a hostel enviornment and I can't be here any longer....It's THAT BAD.

I was just SCREAMED at because I wasn't at my desk when she called me. This is what I have to deal with word for word. "Ok, i have a pet peeve that I have to get off my chest, I FCK'ING hate it when I call and you don't pick up your phone, I understand people have to use the bathroom but we have a lot going on right now. So I'm not supposed to use the bathroom? This is what I deal with on a daily basis. I can't report her because her dad is the owner, only thing I can do is report her to the board of directors but I believe they might be friends with her dad so that won't prove anything. I dont know what else to do besides leave but there's nothing else out there right now and couldn't survive without some type of income.

So my question is, can I collect unemployment if I voluntarily leave?

Probably not. The boss being a crappy manager, and rude an unprofessional is uncomfortable, I'm not unsympathetic. But generally speaking, no UI if you quit. Sometimes you just have to suck it up until you can find something else.

Is there are HR person or someone who can speak with about her rude and unprofessional comments?

Unfortunatley not...her dad is one of the owners here and she is the HR person. Only person I could go to is the board of directors and I wouldn't be comfortable doing so. The way she speaks to people, calls people stupid, its just really bad and uncomfortable...and its an awful feeling to feel STUCK!

I don't disagree with you. Unfortunately, one of the problems in working for a family-owned/run company. Owner is always going to side with the relatives.
